EchoSteps is a free educational app for practising sounds with young children. Use it with a grown-up nearby, don't rely on it as therapy or diagnosis, and contact us if anything goes wrong.

1. Agreement

These terms apply to the EchoSteps app and this website, provided by Homi Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using EchoSteps you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. The app is meant to be set up by a parent, legal guardian, teacher or therapist, who accepts these terms on behalf of the child using it.

2. What EchoSteps is, and is not

• EchoSteps is an educational practice tool that rewards a child's sounds and invites them to imitate simple sounds.
• It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition. It does not replace assessment or therapy by a qualified speech and language therapist or doctor.
• Sound recognition is automatic and approximate. Results depend on the device, the room and the child's voice. Progress figures and "practised" sounds describe app activity only. "Mastered" marks are made by a grown-up, not by the app.
• If you have concerns about a child's speech, language or development, please consult a qualified professional.

3. Supervision and safe use

• Young children should use EchoSteps with a grown-up nearby.
• Grown-ups are responsible for sensible screen time. The Parent Zone offers a daily time limit and a calm mode.
• Keep the device volume at a comfortable level.

4. Accounts and cloud backup

• EchoSteps works without an account. Optional cloud backup and an optional email account are described in the Privacy Policy.
• If you add an email and password, keep the password private. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You can delete your account and all data at any time: see Delete your account and data.

5. Licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use EchoSteps on devices you own or control, for personal, family, educational or therapy-support use. You may not copy, modify, resell or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows. The app is free; there are no in-app purchases or advertisements.

6. Content and credits

The EchoSteps name, characters (Milo and Pip), artwork and text belong to Homi Labs. Picture cards use images from Noto Color Emoji by Google (Apache License 2.0), and the app uses the Andika font by SIL International (SIL Open Font License). Full licence texts are available in the app (Parent Zone → Family & account → Licences).

7. Availability and changes

We may update, change or stop offering EchoSteps or any feature, including cloud backup. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes, and you can always export a PDF report or keep using the app on your device.

8. No warranty

EchoSteps is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular speech or developmental outcome.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Homi Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, arising from the use of or inability to use EchoSteps. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date above will change, and continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
